Storing wiping rag bales: simple rules for clean stock

Wiping rags should stay in a dry, clean area, away from waste and substances that could contaminate them before use.

Storing wiping rag bales: simple rules for clean stock
01

Choose the right area

Keep bales above floor level on a shelf or pallet and protect them from moisture and splashes. Do not store them beside used oil, open solvents or contaminated materials.

  • Dry, ventilated space
  • Bales raised above the floor
  • Separate from chemicals and waste
02

Label by material and destination

Labels should show material type, work area and intake date. When several grades exist, use simple colour codes understood by every shift.

  • Material type
  • Department or task
  • Receipt date
03

Use first-in, first-out rotation

Consume older lots first and compare physical stock with records every month. A minimum level for each type reduces emergency orders.

  • FIFO rotation
  • Monthly inventory
  • Minimum replenishment level

Frequently asked questions
